We are doing VBS a little differently this summer due to COVID-19. We hope to have mini versions of VBS hosted in the homes of many Faith Bible Church attenders throughout the Lincoln area. We are trusting that God will do big things through this, as our potential reach is even greater, and people’s hearts are ready to hear some good news that will bring hope during this difficult time. Would you begin praying now about who to invite to your VBS 2020 so that you can share the hope of Jesus Christ with those in your “safe” circle? Would you pray that the families you ask will be willing to send their children to your VBS? Would you ask God to teach you and grow your faith through this experience?
We are encouraging Faith Bible Church families to host VBS 2020 in their home, garage, or backyard during the week of July 6th-10th if possible. You have the flexibility to select a different week if you need to. Host families will invite children they know to attend for one hour per day for 5 days. We will provide video lessons OR the curriculum for you to teach the lessons. You choose. (Teaching your own lessons is encouraged - a great growth opportunity!) We will provide a student booklet for each child attending, one simple craft that the children will work on all week, and a simple game or activity option for each day of the week. We will also provide candy for you to use as memory verse incentives. You may choose to provide a daily snack, but this is optional. We will also provide a short training video for those who would feel more comfortable doing this with a little bit of training first.
Our theme is “Wisdom Calls Aloud”. The children will learn that our hearts determine whether we will follow the way of wisdom or the way of foolishness. Children will hear that God is the source of wisdom and that fearing Him leads to life, as well as love and favor from God (Proverbs 8:34-35). Foolishness leads to death and destruction (Proverbs 1:32).
In order to have enough supplies ready, we need to get an of idea of how many host sites we will have and a rough number of how many children will attend. We’d like to have those rough numbers by the end of May so we can get materials ordered. Take a look at the sign-up to see what we need to know from you, and if you have any questions before you sign up please email Jen Sauberan, Children’s Ministry Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
