“Just when one’s body is growing most unreliable, one’s understanding is becoming its greatest.”

Some lessons simply cannot be learned from a book. Some insights will only be discovered and comprehended through the challenges of living. The most profitable “take-aways” on life will most likely be marked by scars. So if we truly want to understand the most important realities, we must take time to listen to the voices of “seasoned saints”.

The scars that taught the greatest lessons on living:
• Born under a death threat
• Bonded to a family he would leave far too soon
• Adopted into a family of high capacity
• Spoiled in the compound of royalty
• Fugitive guilty of involuntary manslaughter
• Four decades of homelessness in the wilderness
• Called out of retirement at the ripe young age of 80 years
• Successful in leadership to the bitter end
• Hitting the finish line just one river short of the destination

“Just when one’s body is growing most unreliable, one’s understand is becoming its greatest.”

Reflecting on 12 decades, 120 years of Divine faithfulness, Moses sings, “Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God!”

The secret to living well in the year that lies before you is to remember the wisdom of one who experienced God’s everlasting faithfulness. The number one life lesson from the “seasoned saint” Moses is simply this, “This world is not our home!”
