You ALONE Can Rescue

#Rescue2014

Have you ever said that word? Has the pit of your stomach, the ache of your heart stirred your lips to form that word?

The weight of the boot of Rome was heavy on their necks. The shame of oppression and occupation was more than they could carry. The rituals of their religion left their hearts cold and hungry. The pit of their stomach and the ache of their heart stirred their lips to say, "Hosanna!"

It was not necessarily that "word" that became an irritation. It was the One to which they were directing their cries. Their crying out to Him was a public acknowledgement of their own inadequacy to rescue. "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." (Luke 19)

They exhausted all other potentials. They obeyed the calls to gather. They surrendered to the cold routines of "worship." They looked to the leaders for a glimmer of hope. Yet, they tasted the bitterness of disappointment. They walked away, empty deep within. "Hosanna" was the longing of their hearts. But until this moment they had not discovered an appropriate "person of interest" toward whom they could cry it out.

"Hosanna!" Save. Save us. Please save us now!

Have you ever said those words? Has the pit of your stomach, the ache of your heart stirred your lips to form that word? Have you come to that moment of inevitable despair and realized that there was only ONE source of hope? That ALL your hope was Him?

"Hosanna!"

"Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

"Hosanna! Lord, PLEASE save us now!"

See you Sunday, Church!
