Advent means “to come” and is a time designed to prepare ourselves for the celebration of Christmas and the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ. For the next four weeks we encourage you to spend time remembering some of the significant events surrounding Jesus’ birth. Below are daily Scripture readings to help guide you and your family through this season.

There are five candles of Advent. Each one represents a different aspect of the Advent season—the prophecies of Christ coming, the significance of Bethlehem, the belief of the shepherds, the proclamation of the angels, and the largest candle represents Jesus Himself. Each Sunday of Advent we will light a new candle. Let us recognize that as the light grows stronger, the Promise is coming ever closer, and the Light will soon pierce the dark and waiting world.
