Missions Team

Elizabeth Carlson

Elizabeth and Bruce Carlson have been attending Faith Bible Church since 2001. They have three children. Since a very young age, Elizabeth felt God's call to missions. She spent four months serving in an orphanage in Russia, and later participated in short-term trips to Mexico, Germany, and Croatia.

In order to pursue God's calling further, she attended Bethany College of Missions in Bloomington, Minnesota. While attending Bethany, Elizabeth became aware of the great needs and opportunities among the unreached people groups now living in the United States of America. She also realized the need to provide wholistic support to those we send and left Bethany with a vision to promote missions in the local church. Elizabeth has served in the area of mission at Faith since 2005.

Sue Darlington

Sue and George Darlington have been attending Faith since the Sunday services began almost 20 years ago. They have 3 adult children and 9 grandchildren. Sue is presently involved with not only the Mission Council but also AWANA; Cleaning Team; Serving at weddings, funerals and other church functions; Middle School summer camp; Kidz Kamp; VBS; Clothing Exchange; hosting high school boys and girls Bible studies in their home along with the women's Porchlight Bible study.

Sue has been on the Missions Council at Faith for over a year. She is planning to go on her first foreign mission trip to Africa in the spring of 2012. If it is God's will she desires to go on medical missions trips to use her nursing skills and share her love of Jesus with the unsaved.  Sue's prayer is that all at Faith will recongnize that WE ARE THE CHURCH here on earth to serve and glorify God wherever we are.

Jean Hughes

Jean and Dennis Hughes have been at Faith Bible Church since 2009. Jean's interest in missions began in 1983 when she sensed a call of God to Germany for a summer trip to work on a dormitory building at a Christian college.  In the last ten years, she has traveled to Eastern Europe four times with International Messengers, (of Clear Lake, Iowa) teaching Christian English and basketball camps. She currently serves on the International Messengers Board of Directors.

Tom Martin

Tom and Janell Martin have been involved at Faith Bible Church for the past nine years. Long interested in missions, they became personally involved when they began making annual trips to Mexico in 2000 and working with missionaries there. For the past few years, it has been a special privilege to have people from Faith join them on these trips. Tom is a deacon serving in the area of missions, and as such has worked with the Missions Council for the past four years.

Steve Loogman

Steve and Gayle Loogman have four children, three grandchildren and a three legged dog. Transplants from California, they have lived and farmed in Waverly for the past 20 years. They have been involved in various church ministries including AWANA, youth groups, MOPS and church building commitees. In God's perfect timing, their interest in missions has been accelerated by Steve's recent trip to Pakistan as well as a joint trip to Honduras recently.

Carrie Nyberg

Carrie and Bob Nyberg have attended Faith Bible Church since 2007. They have two children and two grandchildren. They have been involved in various ministries through the years--AWANA, music, homeless shelter, camp board--to name a few. As a child, Carrie had a childhood friend who was a MK (missionary's kid). The hours they spent together during the family's furloughs fostered an interest in foreign missions that has continued through the years.
