Men’s Retreat
Each Fall men of all ages gather at Camp Rivercrest for the annual Faith Bible Church Men’s Retreat and enjoy a great time of teaching, worship, fellowship, and relaxation. Plan to join us for next year's retreat October 8-9, 2010.
We uphold the value of men in the church very highly. We are committed to building up, equipping and encouraging men of all ages and walks of life to live godly lives and to be all that God calls a man to be. Our teaching/preaching often calls out the men in particular to fulfill the mandates of Scripture; our pastors/elders/deacons and Flock (small group) leaders are all men, and many of our ministry leaders are men.
But we are also committed as a church to not encumbering men with so many ministries that they don’t have the proper time to lead and shepherd their own wives and children. The family is an extremely high priority at Faith Bible, and we try to be sensitive and balanced in offering growth opportunities that won’t compromise the family and the primary roles men carry of husband and father.
Most of our “men’s ministry” takes place through a non-systematized network of men getting together all over the city each week—in coffee shops, restaurants, places of business, and living rooms—in numerous kinds of groups. A group of businessmen gathering in an office somewhere, the men of a flock getting together in a living room, the pastors having coffee/breakfast/lunch wherever they can meet with men, a pair of men opening the Word and praying together and holding each other accountable, an older man with a small group of younger men sharing practical, biblical advice, a theology class, and much, much more.. Though this network is largely unseen and very fluid week in and week out, this is a powerful part of our church’s spiritual DNA—men helping each other live life for Christ.
Every man who wants to grow has ample opportunities to facilitate that growth at Faith Bible Church. Sometimes it takes asking someone, but it is very likely, in any given week, there is a men’s “ministry” taking place that will meet each man’s spiritual needs in a very real and powerful way!
