Our History
In the beginning of 1993, several families were led by the Lord to establish a new Bible teaching church in Lincoln. Though our city was home to many excellent local fellowships, it became a consensus conviction of key men that it was, in fact, the Spirit of God who was prodding this step of Faith. Following many evenings of prayer and discussion, a date was declared for initiating public worship services.
On the 25th of April, 1993 the first service was held in the basement lecture hall of the main administration building at Union College. What an exciting morning of affirmation!

170 individuals found limited parking and made their way down the
service ramp and past the greasy dumpster into a soiled hallway which
opened into a 200 plus seat lecture hall. The fellowship was sweet and
the singing heart-deep and Spirit inspired! Christ-centered,
Spirit-empowered, God glorifying, Biblically informed fellowship was
our passion. The leadership of this new congregation found unity and agreement around some key, non-negotiable values. The Bible as the final authority for faith, practice and church direction was foundational. We recognized the importance of living as a functioning organism with each member of the Body using their God-given gifts to strengthen the whole. |
Plurality leadership was a shared conviction, so regular men's meetings were held for the first year as major decisions were made. After much study, we appointed our first Council of Elders at the beginning of year number two.
One reality from the very beginning was that the Lord was gracing this church with the stewardship of young families. We have been devoted to properly equipping the next generation for godliness in family living, in market-place witness, and in church leadership. This vision is continually refreshed through seeking teachable individuals and making it a priority to invest in lives for this great purpose.

the process of moving our congregational worship services from Union
College to Lincoln Christian's "Sanctinasium", until finally arriving
at this present location, the Lord has continued to add to His church.
Sacrificial giving and service have been a hallmark of the fellowship. We continue to be passionate about the Lord and intentionally committed to taking His Word seriously in all our acts of worship and service. It would be our great joy to minister to you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, in the power granted by His Spirit, in conformity to the truth of His Word, to the Glory of the Living God. Welcome to the family! |
